The Strategy & Planning Manager role is newly created to support the rapid growth of TBAuctions. This role will report to the VP Strategy and work closely with senior team members to assist in developing and executing strategic insights. The Strategy & Planning Specialist will help identify and prioritize value creation opportunities across all TBA’s portfolio brands. The successful candidate will contribute to analyses, strategies, and implementation plans that drive impact on the TBA topline. We are looking for a data-driven individual who is curious, eager to learn, and willing to contribute to meaningful projects.
Challenges
- Limited cross-functional execution till date: The newly created Strategy function is tasked with supporting TBA’s CEO and Executive Team with thinking and ideas as well as implementation and execution force.
- Identify and distribute from local heroes: TBA has grown quickly through a buy and build strategy. As a result, each of our brands has different processes, methodologies and peculiarities. The Strategy & Planning Manager will learn from them, be inspired by them, and drive an agenda to harmonize/ cross-pollinate where it makes sense.
- Culture: Managing a dynamic management team, making changes where appropriate, and driving high performance across all levels of the company.
- Data driven: As TBA matures, we are moving toward a platform mentality and a metrics led management style, the Strategy & Planning Manager will be a key leader in the pivot to data driven decision-making.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the overall strategy and planning cycle, working alongside the executive team and senior leaders.
- Assist in the development and analysis of value creation initiatives, preparing business cases, and recommending timelines for prioritization.
- Coordinate project management tasks to ensure execution of key initiatives.
- Contribute to tracking and delivering results against ambitious growth targets.
- Regularly review business performance, developing insights, and supporting the team in recommending tailored initiatives.
- Stay up-to-date with business dynamics, market forces, and competition to provide informed recommendations.
- Help identify potential execution-related issues and propose solutions to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Promote a culture of high performance by supporting systems of accountability to ensure TBA meets financial plans, OKRs, and other KPIs.
Experience and Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional experience, a Bachelor's degree required (MSc or equivalent a plus).
- Strategy: Experience supporting strategy development, strategic planning, or in a management consulting role. You should have strong analytical skills, good communication abilities, and experience contributing to strategic projects.
- Collaboration: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contributing to cross-departmental initiatives. The Strategy & Planning Specialist will work closely with various teams to ensure alignment and successful execution.
- Industry Knowledge: Passion for digital marketplaces and platforms. Auction experience is a plus, but knowledge in closely related fields is also valuable.
- Data-Driven: Analytical mindset with experience using data to support strategic recommendations.
- Other Skillsets: (1) Adaptability in fast-moving, growth environments; (2) Comfort dealing with ambiguity; (3) Enthusiasm for scaling tech companies; and (4) Basic understanding of financial performance metrics such as P&Ls.
- Personal Traits: Proactive, eager to learn, with strong communication skills. You should be able to: (1) Work well in teams; (2) Solve problems with creativity and positivity; (3) Demonstrate a balance of detail-orientation and big-picture thinking; and (4) Show a willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute to projects hands-on.
