In January 2022, TBA was acquired by Castik Capital to support the next phase of growth. Soon thereafter, Summa Equity joined Castik as co-investor in the pan-European digital auction platform. With the support of both forces, TBA will continue to strengthen our excellent market position within existing geographies and verticals, accelerating organic growth and increasing the pace of add-on acquisitions to build the leading European digital auction house. With support from Castik and Summa, our European ambitions are moving ahead through the acquisitions of the Swedish auction platforms Klaravik and PS Auction and the Norwegian auction platforms Auksjonen.no and Bjarøy AS, Danish auction platform Auktionshuset DAB, European auction platform Surplex as well as Benelux auction companies Epic and Vavato, and UK auction platform British Medical Auctions. Today, we operate eight brands and continue to add to the portfolio.
TBA’s business model is asset light with no inventory or price risk. It currently operates within mostly B2B end markets with net auction sales of 1.3B EUR in 2023. We are currently the market leader in online auctioning in the Benelux and Nordics with a strong position to grow across Continental Europe. TBA is powered by our proprietary software platform for intelligent auctioning called Atlas which enables the business to scale and integrate future acquisitions across Europe seamlessly. It has digitalized workflow processes to fulfill the demands and needs of both sellers and bidders. TBA has longstanding seller relationships across Europe coupled with a global base of >500k unique bidders from 160+ countries. Further key highlights include: (1) 13,000 auctions and 3+ million lots per year; (2) 125 million+ website visits; and (3) Retention rate of >70% and 70% of recurring sellers.
The position
We are looking for a Regional Finance Manager (RFM) for our Benelux & UK regional management team to take responsibility for financial and business control, planning, analyses and reporting. You will be the finance business partner of the Regional GM and the other members of the Regional management team, including the Operational Director and the Commercial Director. In addition, you will have managerial responsibility for the finance teams within the region, which each team headed by a local finance manager who will report to you.
The RFM is a business-oriented and proactive manager, with good communication skills and a strong professional foundation. This is a role which can make a lot of impact on the further growth of the region and you will have great exposure. You report directly to the Group CFO and will have a dotted reporting line to the RGM of TBAuctions Benelux & UK.
As the RFM of TBAuctions Benelux & UK you get to work for a PE backed, multicultural technology company which is maturing internally as well as growing rapidly externally. You play an important part in the (international) growth journey of TBAuctions as a Group. Your contribution to Regional strategic growth initiatives and performance improvements will be key.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Financial planning, business analyses and reporting support for the region
- Regional flagship KPI and data driven business monitoring and control
- Responsible for the finance departments of the Benelux & UK entities including group accounting and reporting, local/statutory reporting including taxes
- Business partnering, advising and active participation with the RGM and other members of the Regional MT
- Ownership of financial and business compliance, risk management and internal control within the Benelux & UK region
- Close collaboration with the Group finance functions (Group Accounting Reporting & Control, FP&A, Treasury, Risk & Compliance in Amsterdam)
- Analysis and improvement of profitability and cost control
Experience and Qualifications
The PE backed, constantly growing, international technology platform that TBAuctions is requires a growth mindset from all colleagues. The next phase of growth offers valuable learning experiences and the need for further professionalization of the back-end. As RFM you will play an important role in the phase, which requires an in depth, qualitative and cooperative approach. The right candidate is a proactive finance professional with excellent interpersonal skills. You are able to build relationships with teams across various countries and functions.
Wanted qualifications:
- Finished Masters’ degree in Economics, Accountancy & Control, Finance or related (RA/RC/CMA qualification is a plus).
- Relevant managerial experience in a finance function at a commercial company.
- Strong experience from finance, accounting, reporting and business control
- International business and finance role experience
- Fluent language skills in English. Dutch and French are considered a plus
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Great digital user skills and data driven analytical skills.
