The Tech Lead (TL) at TBAuctions is responsible for combining technical excellence with people leadership to drive impactful, scalable, and user-centred product development. The TL leads by example, shaping system design, guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and fostering collaboration between Product, Design, and Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership

• Provide hands-on technical guidance and drive decisions within the squad.

• Maintain high standards for system design, performance, and scalability ac.

• Review and refine engineering best practices around testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and documentation.

• Anticipate technical risks and proactively define long-term platform evolution strategies.

• Collaborate with other tech leads to align technical direction across the organization.

• Take ownership & responsibility of microservices and related services in the scope of the team

People & Team Leadership

• Manage, coach, and grow a team of engineers — fostering ownership, accountability, and career growth.

• Create a psychologically safe environment where people learn through experimentation and feedback.

• Support recruiting, onboarding, and team composition planning.

• Guide engineers in making trade-offs between innovation, maintainability, and delivery speed.

Delivery & Execution

• Partner with Product Managers, Architects and Designers to define scope, priorities, and success metrics.

• Balance technical debt reduction with the need for fast iteration and validated learning.

• Ensure high-quality, timely delivery through effective planning and retrospectives.

• Identify and remove blockers, enabling your team to stay focused and productive.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Act as the technical voice in cross-squad discussions, ensuring clear communication and alignment.

• Translate complex technical ideas into business-relevant context for stakeholders.

• Participate in product discovery and experimentation, ensuring technical feasibility and early validation.

• Contribute to company-wide engineering forums, documentation, and culture initiatives.

What you bring:

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, or Senior Engineer in a product-oriented company.

• Strong knowledge of modern software architecture, cloud environments (Azure), and web technologies ( Kotlin, Arrow).

• Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and grow engineering talent.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Strong understanding of agile delivery, product discovery, and data-driven decision making.

• Experience working in multi-brand or multi-market product environments is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana)

• Experience with non-relational databases (Redis, CosmosDB)

• Experience working as part of an agile team (Scrum)

• Experience with Arrow or similar functional frameworks or functional languages (e.g Scala)

• Understanding of distributed systems patterns and challenges

• Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
